Amy Grant has been a blessing to the world—not only through her timeless music, but through the grace, kindness, and integrity she’s shown in public life. I saw her twice in concert in Boise, Idaho. Known as the “Queen of Christian Pop,” Amy was one of the first artists to bring contemporary Christian music into the mainstream, helping bridge the gap between faith and popular culture. Her voice has comforted millions and her lyrics speak of hope, redemption, and God’s unfailing love.

Beyond the music, Amy Grant has quietly lived her faith through acts of service and advocacy, including her support for children’s hospitals, veterans’ groups, and charitable work with organizations like Compassion International. She’s also spoken openly about the importance of mental health, family healing, and spiritual growth, making her a relatable and inspiring figure for believers of all backgrounds.

One song she famously covered is “Big Yellow Taxi,” originally by Joni Mitchell. The lyrics—“They paved paradise and put up a parking lot”—ring more true today than ever. Amy has used her platform to raise awareness about environmental stewardship, a cause close to her heart. As Christians, we are called to be caretakers of God’s creation, and that includes protecting the natural world He entrusted to us.

We’re witnessing forests cleared for agriculture, trees torn down for parking lots, and cities expanding with little thought for green spaces, which are vital for children, families, and the health of our communities. In a time of rising temperatures, we need more parks, more trees, more shaded spaces for kids to play, for people to rest, and for our cities to breathe. Just look at the beauty and purpose of places like the Arnold Arboretum in Boston, where nature and human reflection come together in harmony.

Amy’s message reminds us: God made trees for a reason. They give us life—clean air, shelter, beauty, and peace. Caring for nature is not a political issue—it’s a spiritual one. From the Garden of Eden to the parables of Jesus, Scripture is filled with images of trees, rivers, and the land. In Revelation, the Tree of Life reappears as a symbol of eternal healing. We are called not just to live in God’s creation, but to protect it.

Despite our political differences, we can agree on this: everyone deserves clean air, clean water, and a place to find peace under God’s sky. Let’s follow the example of peacemakers like Amy Grant and work together—faithfully, lovingly—to restore the balance between humanity and the Earth. It’s time to reimagine our cities with more trees, more gardens, and more grace.

Because in the end, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Let’s not let paradise disappear.

God Bless the trees, animals and Mother Nature and God Bless us all.

Peace, love, and faith,

DJ Evan McIntyre
